Im pretty sure they claim it's an obvious contradiction🤦♂️. That you can't see that should tell you something about yourself. Even if I was the weirdo, why would I care, I'm not a sheep that goes with what most people around me think.
I understand they’re claiming it’s a contradiction. My point is that they at least see it as a common enough perception, which means that your “fantasy land” quip is a weak jab not only because it’s juvenile, but because it goes directly against things established in the very thread you’re commenting on.
I don’t care that you’re a special snowflake. You admit you go against the norm so you’re a terrible judge of what counts as a normal perspective about the world and nobody should take your claim of what the real world looks like seriously
The "fantasy land" thing was regarding the strange conversation that you imagined. I understand that it was obviously an oversimplification but I still think it's unrealistic. Also, a "common enough perception" can still be incorrect, that's what op is getting at.
I don't "go against the norm", I form my own opinion on matters. This thread is not a good representation of society (no online space is) so that I am the weirdo here doesn't matter to me. I don't seem to be understanding the logic behind your last scentence. Why am I a terrible judge about the normal perspective (if there is such a thing)? How does it follow that I shouldn't be taken seriously?
If what you wanted to say was that you think its not accurate, then you should have said that. And ideally, explained why you think so. But you attacked the perspective as being so outlandish yo the point of being delusional. And now you’ve corrected course, which is good. I’m happy to talk about why you think this isn’t how this particular gender dynamic works. Do you think men don’t impose unrealistic beauty standards on women, or that men don’t have low standards for accepting an offer to have sex?
I’m putting aside whether what I said is accurate. We’re just talking about whether it’s a reasonable perspective to have. By your own admission, it is.
