Why do I get the sense this traces back to the influx of surface-level “vibe coders” and displaced project-management staff who have reinvented themselves as technical authorities, steering engineering decisions they don’t understand and accelerating burnout among the people who actually build the systems.
No, it's the grunts that are to blame, certainly not the managers or the AI they're staking their bonuses on!
As much as we'd all love to blame the fraud that is AI, this is just Cloudflare's technical debt coming due. They built a castle on a foundation of cards, and replacing that foundation with out some cracks forming in those walls is quite difficult as they're finding out.
So have they burned down fell over and then sunk into the swamp yet?
