I'll drop into star marine and play a game or two a couple days of the week. I am already well aware.
Your comment is entirely accurate and justified.
That being said, I'm looking for something to replace CoD. If Star Marine or AC can find ways to incentivise players or increase replayability, then I'll take the performance hit.
I replied to someone else on this thread in a little bit more detail.
AC doesn’t have much desync I have noticed but SM unfortunately does still have it sometimes. AC is still fun and has pretty high ceiling with actual skill (not skill points) to get good against real players, some amazing pilots out there. The PVE for AC pirate swarm is getting real update this time especially with the survival mode that it drops cap ships on u. gun rush will probably be the hot mode for SM, it was my favor mode in BF old games. As for replacing ur other games as main game is really on u and how much u like it and dealing with some bugs. Hopefully it will be in a good state since it’s getting a major refresh
They have different code base I believe certain aspects of ship combat are server authoritative (only some aspects) until you fight someone with patch loss and they teleport all over
The experienced team that made BF3 and BF4, and resigned from EA/Dice ahead of BF2042 being made have made a studio of their own (Embark) and their first game is now going to be "The Finals". Looks like TF2 with BF4's levelution.
Their delayed game (which was previously going to be their first) is a PvPvE game, is Arc Raiders. Not 100% what that one's about.
IDK if they'll be any good. Or when theyre coming out. But they'll have netcode made by a responsible adult.
Have you played the Finals alpha/beta or whatever they had a few months ago? The game felt sluggish and unresponsive. And the Netcode couldn’t handle physics very well. Playing on the moving platforms in Seoul was annoying at best and if there are too many explosions you could feel the Server struggling. Hit reg was also wonky over longer distances.
BF4 netcode at release was also pure garbage. That game only got saved by DICE LAs, now Ripple Effect, amazing post launch support.
I'll definitely check it out, and thanks for the heads up! I enjoyed the glorydays of battlefield, so I'll give it a look-see and pick it up if I like it.
And while I'll always agree the SC netcode sucks, I'm still hopefully optimistic that CIG will eventually get those issues ironed out in the next 4-5 years once they get server-meshing integrated
CIG is working on improving the server tick rate for arena commander if you believe the recent monthly report. Probably 60hz for AC. That would fix many problems
