I hope they get this goood by November. I'll pledge the $70 i would normally give to CoD, and switch to playing SC Arena Commander.
I just really hope was can see some sort of progression system, or way to incentivise multiple playthroughs.
Bruh this isn't gonna fix the underlying issues of jank combat and bad netcode. Respect to the ux and team here for getting the flows to get into games into a much better state though.
Sad but true.
I love all the changes they outlined, but I didn't hear much about fixing all the bugs and garbage that make AC and SM not fun to play.
They literally said in one of the last posts that engineering is looking into desync/latency issues.

I'm dumping CoD anyway. I'd much rather prefer playing Star Marine if there was a reason to play it. And youre totally right: it is a buggy mess. The movement mechanics are nowhere near CoD.
That being said, I believe in CIG more than I believe in Activision. If they incentivise playing Star Marine and AC, possibly with aUEC bonuses, then I would much rather stick to Star Citizen FPS and learn to get good at that.
The point isnt that I'm expecting Star Marine to be a 1-to-1 clone of CoD (maybe we'll get there in the future), but I am trying to find a game to replace CoD. I'm done dealing with Activision.
Get titanfall 2. It's not dead, I've seen 6k players almost every day
Is that with the northstar client?
Should check our Squad if you’re leaving CoD
Did you miss this?

You're going to get a largely worse experience playing star marine than you will CoD.
...and you think this community cares? COD is an ultra-tight, stable gaming experience.
SC is a broken tech demo.
They don't care. They're just looking for excuses to flush money into this game.
I mean... judging by the comments in this post alone, I'd say a lot of people care about the updates. There's also a lot of people who are sick and tired of Activision, and want to get away from CoD.
CoD is slipping. Theres already tons of bugs, and they have dynamically changed the game mechanics while telling their 6v6 fanbase to fuck off. I used to play CoD just about every day since world at war.
Vanguard burned me, but I got sucked into the MWII glory days, nostalgia hype. Then MWII fucked me harder than Vanguard, so now I will go out of my way to avoid purchasing another CoD game.
Also, I'm not trying to be rude, but if you're so pessimistic about the game, then why are you on the subreddit right now? If you cared about the state of the game and you didnt appeciate how CIG was handling it, then I could understand your participation.
But judging by your reply, it seems like you almost genuinely want SC to fail, and if that is actually what you want, dont you think you'd be a lot happier to just let SC go and participate in the call of duty and MWII subs?
And yes, it costs money to make and develop games. Everyone has their personal opinion on how their personal money should be spent. But if CIG is able to develop something that completely nullifies my desire to play CoD, why wouldn't I support the company?
No, you won't. Not once you play enough to realise how bad the netcode is.
Hitreg its entirely client side, and that's only the start of the problem.
Until we have a month long series of ISC detailing miraculous strides in performance in the netcode then nothing PVP is going to be worth anyone's time.
I'll drop into star marine and play a game or two a couple days of the week. I am already well aware.
Your comment is entirely accurate and justified.
That being said, I'm looking for something to replace CoD. If Star Marine or AC can find ways to incentivise players or increase replayability, then I'll take the performance hit.
I replied to someone else on this thread in a little bit more detail.
AC doesn’t have much desync I have noticed but SM unfortunately does still have it sometimes. AC is still fun and has pretty high ceiling with actual skill (not skill points) to get good against real players, some amazing pilots out there. The PVE for AC pirate swarm is getting real update this time especially with the survival mode that it drops cap ships on u. gun rush will probably be the hot mode for SM, it was my favor mode in BF old games. As for replacing ur other games as main game is really on u and how much u like it and dealing with some bugs. Hopefully it will be in a good state since it’s getting a major refresh
They have different code base I believe certain aspects of ship combat are server authoritative (only some aspects) until you fight someone with patch loss and they teleport all over
The experienced team that made BF3 and BF4, and resigned from EA/Dice ahead of BF2042 being made have made a studio of their own (Embark) and their first game is now going to be "The Finals". Looks like TF2 with BF4's levelution.
Their delayed game (which was previously going to be their first) is a PvPvE game, is Arc Raiders. Not 100% what that one's about.
IDK if they'll be any good. Or when theyre coming out. But they'll have netcode made by a responsible adult.
Have you played the Finals alpha/beta or whatever they had a few months ago? The game felt sluggish and unresponsive. And the Netcode couldn’t handle physics very well. Playing on the moving platforms in Seoul was annoying at best and if there are too many explosions you could feel the Server struggling. Hit reg was also wonky over longer distances.
BF4 netcode at release was also pure garbage. That game only got saved by DICE LAs, now Ripple Effect, amazing post launch support.
I'll definitely check it out, and thanks for the heads up! I enjoyed the glorydays of battlefield, so I'll give it a look-see and pick it up if I like it.
And while I'll always agree the SC netcode sucks, I'm still hopefully optimistic that CIG will eventually get those issues ironed out in the next 4-5 years once they get server-meshing integrated
CIG is working on improving the server tick rate for arena commander if you believe the recent monthly report. Probably 60hz for AC. That would fix many problems
This is mental.
If they hobble together some half baked mess your willing to give them $70 dollars?
For a game mode they likely won't support past what ever this update will be and will be abandoned and you're like "Yeah, I'm going to give them EVEN MORE money" for a clearly inferior product that.
Like spend your money how you want, but that's being a
rube.Edit: Didn't know it had a racist history, leaving for postarity and education.
Rube: "A derogatory term for a southerner; a redneck; white trash"
Glad to know that you are willing to descend to personal insults because I don't align with your opinion. I've stated my reasons in responses to other comments, but it's absolutely unnecessary and unacceptable to make racist remarks based on my own financial choices.Edit: Above comment was made in ignorance. They were not trying to be intentionally offensive.
Honestly, I've never known the history of the word, it was me implying someone who is easily parted from their money without evaluating the worth of what they are getting.
I had no desire to attack you as a person. Sorry, it was just in your choices in this context to further support a poor product.
I'm not sure if that helps or is better, I just can't reconcile how someone can look at the track history and drop that much cash and get nothing in return is all. At least in the context to a multi million dollar company.
No worries; words have meaning, and I thought you looked at my post/comment history which lead you to that conclusion. (Yes I'm from the south)
We can agree to disagree on the topic of star citizen just to prevent bad blood. At the end of the day, whether you're pissed at CIG or hopefully optimistic, we're all wanting to see a better, completed product that we can all enjoy. I hope we can at least find common ground in that conclusion.
No hard feelings; my skin is thicker than my wallet, lol.
Leaderboards and ranks are coming :D
We already had them they were just broken as fuck.
That's likely to make it less interesting... More people chasing that KDR.
Funniest shit I've ever read on here
isn't 3.20 suppose to come out around september? 3.20 is slated for Q3, Q4 patch should be december (or early january)
