Agreed, for all involved
Or a fantastic opportunity for a student/ inexperienced videographer looking to develop their experience,, depends if you're a glass half full person or not ☺️
Face it, if you get an inexperienced student naive enough to do this you will take one look at the footage, say it's not good enough and start a paypal dispute.
Wedding footage is of little or no use to them in any case. If you think they'll be able to use the footage to get other people getting married to pay - well, why would they? You're not willing to pay them.
If you take my advice : no one will be interested in looking at your photos or videos. Don't spend a ton of money filming your drunk relatives.
Your problem here is - there probably are a few students naive enough to fall for it, but you've posted to a global internet website with people who aren't stupid.
For sure, once you say wedding you're getting fleeced by suppliers, but that doesn't mean you can do a uno reverse.
I totally see your point. But I'm genuinely not trying to " fleece " anyone.
There are plenty of professions where you pay less for experience; hairdressing, make up artists, plumbers, tattoo artists, Christ I've even paid less to see a dentist in training for a check up...
If I was offering £500 to an a videographer with ten years experience, absolutely I'm a dick.
But I'm trying to offer someone a chance to make some money, and the stress free side of it for me. I don't NEED a fancy video that took 10 hours to edit.
I want a funny video of my uncle getting pissed, and of me and my husband bumbling around on a dancefloor, that we can watch back in future years.
I don't understand all the hate I'm getting for that?
It really doesn't matter, as I've had several messages that I'll be discussing to see if THEY are interested. That was the point of this post, it was directed at those who are up for this sort of agreement, if people aren't I don't understand why they bothered to get involved if they had no intention whatsoever of offering their services or even bothering to find out what I was going to suggest in terms of payment.... It's people jumping on the negativity bandwagon and it's quite depressing reading it.
I'm choosing to focus on the positives, which are people were concerned I might be trying to take advantage of a young person and ask them to do it for free, or next to no pay. Which I'm not.
