It’s honestly too bad that CA is on the opposite side of the country from the Northeast. If the Northeast, PNW and CA broke off as their own country they would be one of the most economically strong in the world… without the south dragging them down.
Even if they formed separate countries, they could still have an EU type arrangement between them. Unified standards, completely free trade, shared currency and free movement.
I'm sure you could pay Canada to host a few rail lines to connect them for freight.
I’m sure Canada would be more than happy to join those 2 regions, maybe include a few in the middle along the border.
The south really is a drain on the US in a lot of ways… we may have way more taxes up north and out west, but we get a shit load more from them.
Other way around. Canada might be ok with letting them join Canada. Although, as a Canadian as much as I love those areas of the US (I have lived in NY, CA & WA) I don't think Canadians would be ok with adding 30m+ guns. California alone has 20m guns.
I would be picturing more of a EU situation
California and Seattle have sufficient access to major shipping lanes; look how much waterway commerce the U.S. would lose without our establishment as a U.S. State. In addition to being the 4th largest economy in the world, California could certainly impact Trump’s trade war very significantly! Trumpy hasn’t conquered Greenland or Canada, so he doesn’t control Northern trade corridor. He also didn’t gain control of the Panama Canal. That would mean his sea trade would be limited to East Coast commercial ports…
