Those people are usually just very racist, not much to analyze there. But being worried about the rights of women and gay people should naturally lead you to be critical of islam.

The more important question is why so many people who do worry about such things suddenly give islam a pass. Personal guess (though not sure) is westerners weak or dumb enough to have given in to pressure and bought into some pathetic white guilt and are therefore scared to be critical of any foreign culture. That or people who in general want to be progressive and have gotten duped into some similar view of the west or white people as the villains of history

What? The British ruled a united India which included Pakistan and Bangledesh. The partition happened at the request of the newly independent leadership.

Educate yourself about this. You'll feel better and look less misinformed.
