There are currently 25,000 connected users at 3PM EST.
I'd be curious as to what the concurrent count is. These players will be using XIVLauncher at the very least, so we can't use steam numbers - although the current Mare login number is greater than the current Steam playerbase.
i'm not saying a significant chunk of the playerbase isn't using it, but i am saying that losing JUST mare isn't going to be enough to make a good chunk of those people quit. Modding scene was alive well before mare and will continue to be alive after it. It'd need to be a cascade of other major plugins or, god forbid, dalamud itself being taken down, for any real noticeable shifts in subs. If we have to go back to textools, I assure you a lot of people won't.
I agree with you, but the modding scene was quite small compared to now. A lot of us used Mare just for people watching, as an example. I modded my character to express myself towards others despite me never RPing.
It was a fun thing to do that added a bit more identity to yourself within the game. Removing that kills off of the personality that connected other players. The number of times conversations started because someone liked my Crocs was incomparably higher than the number of conversations started without mods. I've made friends simply through mods being an icebreaker.
It's frustrating because this is more than just people who use mods for gposing.
i heard its more than 25k, maybe 100k+ the 25k people are jsut people are just opt'd in for the data or something idk
Oh good point! I think that's accurate
