Imagine a mage being stingy with the water

New spec - dehydration.

dehydration

This is why I'm fire mage

Depends what level they are, if it's only just upgraded then making a "shit ton" could literally take about half an hour of straight casting/drinking, it's a real ballache

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (2)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]vemptzuu10 points6 years, 3 months ago

If i just upgraded and can only get two waters per cast, I'll just ask the healer if he's ok with the lower rank drinks in order to lose less time on preparations. 9 times out of 10 they agree and we save like 5 mins before pulling.

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (2)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]Ashmadia5 points6 years, 3 months ago

I don't ask. I just give lower level. Once I can do 4 per cast I'll ask

That’s only because I never play mage so I don’t make water for the 20 minutes I’m waiting for a tank to become available.

permalinkparentcontextas-of
[–]Pure_Decimation10 points6 years, 3 months ago

I just hand out one level down and give them a fuck ton if I just got my level. No one wants to wait 15 minutes for me to conjure them 2 stacks.

I've met other mages who demanded pay for their water/food in a group. That's like a healer joining and asking for pay for heals, or a warrior wanting pay for tanks. People, just play your damn class and dont expect pay for clicking 1 button

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (4)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]Dazbuzz5 points6 years, 3 months ago

Did a Maraudon with some mage, he made water, traded me, then cancelled when i didnt put any money in the window. Like, you traded me bud, dont get pissy when i dont pay you. Warlock with Dark Pact, so i didnt even need the water.

Outside of a dungeon group, if you are advertising your skills and requesting tips? Sure, im fine with that. In a dungeon run, why? Just contribute to the success and sustain of your group. Dont see me demanding gold for putting a Soulstone on the healer or giving out Healthstones/Summons.

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (2)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–][deleted]1 point6 years, 3 months ago

I would flat out not heal anyone who did this in a group. I get that it's annoying to spam mages for free water in IF. I always tip them a Health Pot or cash if I don't have any. But in the dungeon? It's part of the job. No water = no heals.

I can see them in front of their PC... THIS SOUNDS LIKE SOCIALISM!

permalinkparentcontextauthor-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]TheIrishGoat3 points6 years, 3 months ago

On the flip side I regularly get whispered by people not even in the same zone asking for water, or mad if I’m just passing over on a flight path/not in their zone. Had one guy in stormwind ask for food, and I went oom conjuring him stacks of sweet rolls. When I traded them to him I got called stingy for ‘only’ giving him two stacks.. for free. What does he want me to do, sit there and drink and fill up his bags with free food?

Party members get free food/water and portals. All those other random people can take a hike.

permalinkparentcontextauthor-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]KingSwank2 points6 years, 3 months ago* (edited 24 minutes after)

People pay for tanks/heals all the time lol

Edit:: that being said, tanking a whole dungeon takes immensely more time than clicking conjure mana 5 times and you shouldn’t MAKE your party members pay for it.

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]_Ross-:alliance::druid: 5 points6 years, 3 months ago

Damn y'all need some guild members then. Why pay when they need you just as much? Am I just too new to WoW to be familiar with that culture?

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]KingSwank4 points6 years, 3 months ago

Farming. Yeah, you might be able to get a tank/healer to run through a dungeon with you once pretty easily, but if you’re farming a specific item drop from a specific boss, you can spend a looooooot of time grinding a specific dungeon and unless the tank/healer is looking for an item as well, they might not have much of a reason to stick around.

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]_Ross-:alliance::druid: 2 points6 years, 3 months ago

That makes sense!

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]KingSwank3 points6 years, 3 months ago

Still totally an asshole move to MAKE your own party members pay for conjured mana/food. If they decide to tip you, that’s cool, but keeping your healer at full mana benefits the whole group so by making them pay you’re hurting the group.

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-HANDBRA2 points6 years, 3 months ago

This is why I'm glad we're back to single realms. Mages who do pull this shit quickly get put on blast and blacklisted from pugs and/or get shit from their guild for besmirching their name.

Good luck farming Strat for your preraid gear when nobody will group with you, you stingy popsicle!

I will always demand pay to open lock boxes because I’m a filthy rogue.

Change my mind

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (3)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]wheresbrazzers2 points6 years, 3 months ago

I have never asked for payment or tips for opening lock boxes and people still pay me.

I have had people come and give me more money after they got a blue in their lock box.

permalinkparentcontextauthor-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]FlamingWeasel2 points6 years, 3 months ago

I find that fair enough since it's not a need for them and they're getting something out of it. Refusing to give the healer water slows the group down and is just cunty.

permalinkparentcontextauthor-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]Psycho_Linguist1 point6 years, 3 months ago

Counterpoint: I've never had trouble finding a rogue to open one for free becuase they get to skill up. If I get something good then I'll tip. If its some shitty 30s green then nah

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–][deleted]1 point6 years, 3 months ago

I tried to tip a rogue a potion yesterday. He actually messaged me "don't give me some vendor trash, if you want to tip tip, but I don't want that shit."

Which is weird, because it wasn't a bad potion and he could have sold it for about the same amount I would have tipped. I wanted to snap back but just held my tongue.

permalinkparentcontextas-of
[–]chocolatenuttty11 points6 years, 3 months ago

I hate other mages who do that. I make sure to fill up at least 6 stacks so I can give half to the healer so if he decides to leave he has enough for another group without a mage

What a nice guy

permalinkparentcontextauthor-focusas-ofpreserve
[–][deleted]1 point6 years, 3 months ago

haha. Love this. If I'm going to be playing all evening and have some questing and such to do as well, I'll run a dungeon first so a nice Mage loads me up with goodies. lol

You're a smart. My favourite thing though is going around low level areas and buffing priests with 22 int

had a mage give me 14 water and was told to split it with the group

permalinkparentcontextas-of
[–]super1s6 points6 years, 3 months ago

I can imagine it. When a mage gets new water they can only make two at a time. So takes a LONG time to make it all haha. Stingy might not be the right word but yea.

permalinkparentcontextauthor-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]FrequentButterscotch5 points6 years, 3 months ago

Literally every mage I've encountered in SM gives me a single stack or less and/or begs for tips.

[–]PlatedGlassDoor:alliance::warlock: 3 points6 years, 3 months ago

Had a guy in this sub tell me everyone should pay for water because it’s a limited resource...

permalinkparentcontextauthor-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]heroesoftenfail:alliance::paladin: 1 point6 years, 3 months ago

I'd say out of all the runs I've done lately, half I received no water from the mage. Out of the remaining 50%: 40% of the runs I received 1 stack of water. The other 10% I received more than one stack (one time, I got three). It's wild.

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]rotary-phone1 point6 years, 3 months ago

I'm new to WoW and rolling mage. Just makes sense to give out the water I can make for free. I make a few stacks beforehand. Shrug

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]heroesoftenfail:alliance::paladin: 1 point6 years, 3 months ago

I do, too, on my main. Which is why it's so wild to me that not everyone does it. I guess I've had a lot of healers and DPS act shocked when I gave them water in dungeon groups, though...I shouldn't be shocked anymore. But it's still hard to imagine for some reason...

Am shaman-

I SWEAR TO GOD THE AMOUT OF MAGES WHO GIVE ME LIKE 15 (or less) WATER FOR A RUN IS INSANE

LIKE BRUH

So tilted...

Edit- I feel I should explain the way my tank pulls I will usually use 15+ per run unless we’re almost ready to level out of the dungeon.
