Need advice on motherboard issue. I ordered an Asus TUF B550M-Plus Gaming (WiFi), but Asus shipped me the non-WiFi edition. I called them about this and they offered one of two things:
They can ship me a WiFi card
They can replace my MoBo but it will take 12 days because they're (trigger warning) Out Of Stock. This is not really an option I'm entertaining because I'll be receiving the last PC part for my build tomorrow and the idea of sitting around for 2 more weeks is ridiculous. I would rather get them to refund me.
The TUF B550M-plus has 2 PCIe 16x (1 v3.0, 1 v4.0) slots and one PCIe 1x slot (1 v3.0). If I take up their offer on the WiFi card, I give up the PCIe 1x slot. The GPU has its own. This just leaves me with one slot. Should I anticipate needing more?
One advantage of the separate wifi card (insist on Wifi 6!) is that it becomes a transferable component - it can be re-used easily. Thus reducing the cost of your next mobo purchase.
Unless you want to plug in something like a Pcie capture card or something like that, apart from a GPU there isn't really anything too much a standard rig would need Pcie wise.
