Hillary does have motive but apparently there’s no dna match. Strangulations are typically very personal. Some studies suggest the most frequent motives for homicidal strangulation is rape, sexual jealousy and personal rivalry.
Garrett had DNA under his fingers and Nick had no scratches on him. No fingerprints in the house. Nothing tying him to the location. Seems so weird.
Someone said in another thread that they did find 4 unidentified fingerprints -- they just didn't match Hillary. (Or Jones for that matter.)
They don't directly address it in the doc, but I think there's a part in passing where police admit that Hillary didn't match the fingerprints they found.
Mark Murray is under oath stating they found no DNA matches to Hillary at the scene or on Garret

No they don’t have a full DNA profile which is why it wasn’t allowed in the case.
Plus DNA isn’t infallible and it’s possible for there to be false positives. The DNA sample matched a limited profile similar to Hillary’s not Hillary’s and they were clear about that.
Garrett was the only thing holding Nick back from being with a bangin’ hot white lady in a small town.

Tandy couldn’t be with Nick because Garrett didn’t like Nick. They tried to make it work and see each other on the DL, but it just wasn’t working and Tandy said her kids come first so they had to break up.
In one of the documents in the background, it said that the younger brother just listened to anything Garrett did and said, so the younger brother wasn’t an issue, it was Garrett not liking Nick and telling the younger brother to also not like Nick.
And it’s not out of the question that the racist uncle and ex/cop were telling Garrett that he should hate “the black guy”.
So, yeah, the kids (Garrett) was the reason Nick couldn’t be with Tandy.
Edit: to clarify, I’m not saying Nick 100% did it in case you’re just blindly on Nick’s side. I’m just stating a fact.

I had to laugh when during the trial they did have a statement from that day from a Greg brown and John Jones goes he must be a black guy I don't know him LOL !! Then were refreshing his memory of him IM SORRY but GREG is not a normal name for a black person why did he assume that ... BECAUSE HE"S RACIST . And I hate throwing that word around it gets thrown around too loosely .. I would assume the whole family including JOHN JONES who really is the killer threw it around a lot especially after John Jones lost her to a black man Nick Hilary ... Tandy didn't have a problem with it clearly even after over a year with Nick she didn't have trouble texting him to come out at midnight didn't see her texting John Jones for booty calls after that broke up ... John Jones stalked them he banged on doors he confronted Nicks wife on the sidewalk yeah he just HAPPENED to run into her SURE LOL ! And this poor child he was in no ones way . Nick is a veteran he's educated he's a coach of young adults this kid was struggling he was trying to give him structure THATS LOVE thats someone caring not the way they made him out to be . And what kid likes their mom's boyfriends stepfathers etc ??? I like that the mother dated a black man color wasn't an issue for her and wanted her kids to not see the color of his skin either but that John Jones sure did . Everyone in the community sure did her FAMILY sure did . What a shame ... so glad he was found not guilty .. I hope Tandy eventually comes to her senses even if he's a cop she realizes her childs soul wont be released until she makes this right and finds the right person JONES accountable.... Did he mean to do it ? NO . But he found her the apt SO HE MADE HIMSELF A KEY so he could do more spying on her and that poor kid just happened to catch him in the apartment he had to kill the witness . The cop came then he had to jump out the window praying probably he didn't break his neck and get away before anyone saw him especially a cop FRIEND

The evidence showed they could not rule out Hilary’s DNA under Garret’s nails, but they could rule out JJ’s DNA. I agree it’s personal. Tandy indicates that Nick and her son didn’t get along. It’s precisely what precipitated the breakup. What am I missing here?

No. What they said was that the DNA found couldn’t be ruled out as being Hilary’s. However, it could be ruled out as having come from Jones. Which to me at least strongly implies that Jones was not involved in the struggle.
Hillary must be really cunning to have pulled this off.
I’m not saying I know definitively it was Hilary. Just that DNA evidence supports that it was not JJ. Hilary’s original legal team was found to be incompetent. So quite possibly there was evidence that was either suppressed or de-emphasized. But a lot of his actions were suspect and yes, creepy as hell. And the documentary de-emphasized a lot of this and instead focused on shot after shot of him with his kids.
I don’t think JJ had undergone this same DNA testing. All the earlier DNA tests excluded both of them. The DNA that might have identified NH was sketchy, which is why the judge didn’t allow it.

NONE TO JOHN JONES but he still over a year later took it upon himself to stalk them their every movement i mean the guy is making threats banging on doors seeking out Nicks wife telling her whats going on THERE'S YOUR MOTIVE .. He didn't go to kill the kid guarantee you because he's the one that got her the apt he took it upon himself to make a key probably not the first time he's been in there snooping around trying to see if they are still sleeping together that poor kid just got in the way ... NO ONE will notice a white guy around an apt building clean dressed but WOULD especially in that small town a black guy snooping around and going in ... there is a witness said she saw JOHN JONES then that poor girl terrified disappeared left town even her boyfriend said drop it . Jones is a cop it's like goodfellas they will do what they have to just to protect their own .
