I haven't seen anything he's written, so I have no expectations on that front.
I watched The Neighbors. It was dumb.
The trailer did look dumb, but dumb doesn't always mean bad. Though if you didn't enjoy it, I'm not going to try and change your mind. Like I said, I haven't seen it.
