Bernie zealots really cannot accept that more VOTERS turned out for the other person.

A cult of personality is some Trump propaganda shit. You think maybe people are tired of being wage slaves and that a politician saying that worker exploitation is bad may just appeal to people on the issues?

You're entitled to your opinion but I think just maybe campaigning on issues that appeal to a dormant electorate is a pretty good way to increase voter turnout. Give people a an alternative to Republican and Republican Light.

I'm a Bernie supporter but not one of his cultists. I'm more realistic than that. If he can't even motivate his own base to get out and vote for him, he has a snowball's chance in hell of beating Trump.

Thank you. Finally, someone reasonable. I realize how painful it is to have a preferred candidate lose, but this has been out of control for awhile now and feel a dose of tough love and reality is in order at this point. I can sympathize with what they are going through. Genuinely, I am sympathetic. I just can't believe people have allowed themselves to be this deluded after such a disasterous turnout last Tuesday.

Can you be realistic about Biden? His obvious mental decline? His lack of policies? How unexciting a moderate platform is?

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)as-of
[–][deleted]3 points5 years, 10 months ago

He doesn’t have obvious mental decline no matter how many times you say it. Also a moderate platform is unexciting to a progressive but as a moderate I’m very excited

Look at a video of Biden now and watch him debate Paul Ryan in 2012. You can't tell me there isn't cognitive decline. That is not a stutter.

Trump will fucking cream Biden in the debates, and you are gonna blame everyone else for not pretending Biden was lucid.

So vote for the furthest left candidate you can.

If you vote for a conservative (Biden) don't be surprised when the person who's better at being a conservative (Trump) wins.

Didn't know not supporting the appeal of the Hyde amendment until it was smart politically was protecting abortion rights but go off 👍

I didn't claim Bernie supported anything. Your mind must be slipping like Biden's 😂

imagine being dumb enough to trust Biden when he says he supports those 🤣

Also you don't start an argument by asking for what you want, you ask for everything, and then argue it down to get what you want. Starting from a compromised position means you've already lost.

Uhh those are all well within European conservative party policies

Hell, Canadian conservatives are left of Democrats on healthcare.

Ever wonder why your country sucks and the whole world hates you? Because American conservatives are fascists, American liberals are conservatives, and American socialists are liberals.

Bernie is actually in far better health than both Trump and Biden, and even if he wasn't, a day of Bernie as president would be better than Trump or Biden because that's why vice presidents exist.

Biden said he would be fine with a republican vice president.

A vote for Biden could literally be voting for a republican.

Also, Biden isn't a real democrat. If he was, he wouldn't have campaigned to elect republicans.

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]reereejugs4 points5 years, 10 months ago

Not a real Democrat? You mean the guy whose been a Democrat since 1969? You think he's not a real Democrat? As opposed to the guy who claimed to be an Independent until he realized running as a Democrat would boost his shot at election?

Ffs dude you're making the rest of us Bernie supporters look bad with your bullshit.

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]totallynotanalt191711 point5 years, 10 months ago

So you're saying that being a democrat is just about the label, and has nothing to do with policy whatsoever?

Biden campaigned for Republicans. If that's what being a Real DemocratTM is about, then why should anyone support them?

permalinkparentcontextauthor-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]nowhereman1362 points5 years, 10 months ago

I'll accept it when the majority votes. Less than a third of the country has voted so far.

permalinkparentcontextauthor-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]0730901 point5 years, 10 months ago

All it took was the media demonizing and lying about Bernie/progressives for months/years while Biden was propped up by the DNC and corporate Dems and every other moderate dropping out right before super tuesday to endorse him. Let's also not forget fractured progressive votes due to Warren not dropping. And Biden still barely pulled ahead. The status quo isn't going to beat Trump.

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]Skolney1 point5 years, 10 months ago

Impressive that you fit every excuse in there. Still doesn't explain the young voters who supposedly love him not turning out.

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]0730901 point5 years, 10 months ago

What explains that is that young voters never turn up. They didn't turn up for anyone across the board, not just Bernie.

permalinkparentcontexthide replies (1)author-focusas-ofpreserve
[–]Skolney0 points5 years, 10 months ago

And his #1 case for electability is getting the young vote out. Which we now know he can't do.

Says who? He galvanized millions of Americans despite extreme opposition from all sides. Your centrist champion barely pulled ahead despite having over 60 billionaires supporting him. Bernie is the will of the people. Biden is the will of the establishment. I'm going to vote for real, progressive change. I'm voting for someone that will oppose the oligarchy of rich.
