I think it's funny that people throw around that s like training wheels.
You have to put the /s or people genuinely do not get it and even in cases you put it people fail to understand, I don't think it's just text. Seems like a lot of people are just frankly dumb.
Some guy was throwing a tantrum in the grocery store yesterday complaining how the store was packed and lines were slow.( Swapped lines and came back 3x)
I turned around and said "your really going to complain the stores packed and lines are slow on 3rd busiest day of the year?"
Guy no joke responded "I just did"
He didn't have the ability to understand I was calling him a moron until I straight up told him I was politely calling him a moron.
He didn't like that.
Maybe shop for your pre-seaoned chicken on any other day of the year or don't throw a tantrum in public and expect people to not reply.
No it really is just text. There is no 'tone' like in voices that convey sarcasm well. Some people will just be dumb enough to not know it is sarcasm and others will think you are being serious just because so much is lost through text compared to using our voices.
Authors for thousands of years seething trying to figure out how to convey sarcasm in their novel. Not until reddit invented /s was it feasible to have sarcasm as a mode of communication in stories throughout human history.

Dumb people are dumb everywhere. If it was that hard to understand sarcam through text, the parent comment we're talking under wouldn't be at +300 upvotes with everyone understanding exactly what he's talking about, he'd be sitting at like 5 votes while people wonder what he's on about.
The fact that this is one of the highest comment chains in the thread, while people thinking klean was being serious are all downvoted enough to be hidden or at least way below this one clearly shows that, by the numbers, way more people can understand sarcams through text than not.
