This is not higher level of consciousness bruh, every other person especially in the first world countries are aware of the problem and want to live like the way this guy is talking about
People know the problem, but if we actually cared and truly believed in the solution, we would have exited mainstream society and 1st world nations to live off the land on some remote mountain or w/e. People SAY they want this stuff, but almost nobody really does. We want a store full of cheap products 5min from the house, modern medical centers and treatments, a decent education, etc. A good life is a very very difficult life, not many people would willingly choose the extreme hardships of surviving off the land in a sustainable manner.
Dude I think people actually do but we can't afford to move to some remote mountain, it's counter productive and we need to move forward not backward. Replacing the current infrastructure with carbon neutral infrastructure is the key.
You don't have to move anywhere. You can stop driving, stop eating more than you need to survive, stop buying anything that isn't a necessity to your survival and stop wasting electricity on Reddit or air conditioning in the summer.
It doesn't cost very much if you do it the old fashioned way. Which is kind of the point right? If you can't buy it with money than it's too difficult.
We didn't have 8 billion people around last time we did it the old fashioned way.
I strongly disagree, this line of thinking is exactly the same as when somebody criticizes America and suggests an improvement and the response is "Well if you don't like it then go somewhere else!!!!" as though the status quo is immutable
Advocating for change within a system is possible, telling people that if they truly wanted change they would leave/exit society is just a reactionary childish response. Especially because there are already dozens of collectives who do live in a sustainable manner and guess what, society has kept on polluting and destroying the earth just fine without them.
If I drop out of society now to start my own agricultural society is that going to stop climate change from occurring when the destructive practices continue to be carried on by everyone else? of course not
You are a child for believing you are going to change the core of human nature. As long as people congregate in large masses there will always be terrible wars, plagues, environmental destruction, etc. People have been doing it since the beginning of mankind and nothing has ever stopped it, only gotten better at being worse.
You are wrong on literally every account. But I am not here to argue with a wall built out of bullshit. lol Time will tell all.
If I could go live off the land I would, but I can't because some randos 100 years ago "claimed" all of it 🙃
Not true. There are plenty of places to go. World is bigger than many think. But when your world revolves around cities and governments it gets small fast.
I would sell my soul to not have to live in this place. Lemme tell you like... I don't know how to get along with people. But that's not the problem since I'm more than willing to learn. But I don't have the time or energy to learn, because of the PTSD I got thanks to the way this world treated me as a result, and now I spend all my time and energy recovering from the emotional exhaustion of trying to work enough hours to survive when being expected to interact with human beings literally gives you flashbacks. If I could afford to travel and knew where to go, I would be out of here so goddamn fast.
If you start adopting the lifestyle suggested now you should be able to save up money pretty quickly. During that time use public spaces like a library to research cheap places to go to and go off the grid. Developed land is expensive, but undeveloped land is relatively cheap.
Moving backwards is not the way, moving forward is
Bettering our planet whilst also improving our quality of life is the goal.
Yeah, best of luck
I would. Except every piece of land is owned in America. Everything costs money.
no they dont, that is bullshit
If you were to tell every person in the west, specially young people that what is required is no more cars, no more cheap cellphones and cheap tech most would just say fuck it then and keep living the way we are
People in first world countries are less aware and far more distracted - it's the people actually experiencing the consequences on a day to day basis that are truly aware.
What a bunch of bullshit. Every other person in first world countries wants to have three cars a big ass house and a pool. The other person wants to have 5 cars.
Thanks for saying it
