20% of unrealized gains. Not in a million years are they going to get that through

No, of course not.

But then he can say "Well, I tried to make them pay their fair share, but the Rupublicans blah blah blah"

It's political points scoring, same as always.

There is this tendency among politicians to see the world as a zero-sum game, if Musk and Bezos are paying less in taxes, they're supposedly stealing from the general populace. Nevermind the fact that both Musk and Bezos have done more to improve the average person's quality of life through their services than all of the politicians combined. I'd much rather have Musk be in charge of the country's budget than Biden. The former will invest it in our infrastructure, the latter will squander it uselessly under the guise of "investing" it in our infrastructure. Politicians don't really have a good track record of getting shit done.

They’ve improved people’s lives yes, and they are rewarded handsomely for it. You’re acting like taxing them at high amount will reduce them to the average American. They wouldn’t even be reduced to your average rich people.

Also, there will always be someone else to make people’s lives better. Bezos and musk did not invent anything anybody else would not have come up with.

Majority of their net worth isn't consumed by them, it's used to further grow their business and retain a controlling share. What happens if they're forced to constantly sell part of their business to pay the tax? You effectively dilute business ownership/direction. It could have a positive effect of fighting monopolies, but could also have a negative effect of bringing the same lack of direction to our corporations that we already see in politics.

Guess you guys just have to vote for us harder next time! Then maybe we can do something about it in 10 years.

What a fucking joke, a slap in the face even once you read what it really is.

I genuinely want those old fucks pulled out by an angry mob at this point. I don't give a fuck how it happens anymore, be it by good or evil means, just make it fucking end. These corrupt fucks are so far removed from their own people they have no right to make these decisions anymore in my opinion.

It’s always the GOP’s fault. Biden farts on stage at a press conference, “ITS ORANGE MAN FAULT!!”

How can they even suggest something like unrealised gains. That means if you own a house, every year you would need to pay tax on the unrealised rise of the property price. And they don't even talk about tax deductions for unrealised losses. The whole thing is just stupid.

Taxing unrealized gains is fucking ridiculous. Taxation on gains is already questionable, now imagine unrealized gains ffs.
