It honestly makes more sense for Duke ranked first, then Arizona number 2 and Michigan 3 - yeah Michigan has dominated but that's been against 1 ranked team on a neutral court (Gonzaga) vs Duke's 4 wins (2 neutral - kansas and arkansas, 1 home - Florida, and 1 away - MSU) and Arizona's 2 (1 neutral -Florida, 1 away - Uconn )
Not counting the Auburn or Ucla games since they aren't ranked anymore
I mean, as a Duke fan I wouldn't mind that, but I see why people have it the other way around. From a pure resume (WAB) perspective for sure Duke is number 1, but none of our wins were by big margins (like all of them combined don't even match Michigan's single win MOV).
Also Auburn is basically ranked now anyway (being literally 2 votes under Iowa) so I'm sure the absolute beatdowns Zona and Michigan gave them count a lot for many voters.
Rankings like these shouldn't consider margin of victory IMO. They should just reward/punish teams for getting the W or L, since that's more fun for fans to root for.
If you want to consider margin of victory and do a more predictive power ranking, just let a computer do it.
That’s silly. Of course a win by say 40 against a top ten team should matter more for rankings than a single possession win against a top ten team.
Nope. This poll is for ranking how fun teams are. That's just how it is.
Our losses are to the two teams with the most first place votes and by 1 pnt to the former #1. We overreached with our OOC schedule and will end up ranked once it settles some.
I prefer to not be #1 tbh. I feel like it's a curse that I don't want
The only reason Auburn isn’t ranked this week is because of Arizona. UCLA is a slightly different story.
