My husband and I are struggling with this. Our closest child free friends live 2hrs away and we’re kind of on the outs with his family so we just hang out by ourselves. Which is okay, of course, but sometimes you want to go to the bar with friends and not have to think about/bring kiddos.
I've always wondered would it not be possible to get a babysitter occasionally? I realize it's super expensive but if you are doing it every now and then to have a day to hang out with friends I feel like most people could spare a hundred bucks or so to pay for a babysitter.
it's a frightening thought that you could be choosing the wrong person for the job
Good heavens. What kind of evil babysitters are in your town? Ours are sweet high school kids.
calm the hell down. i didn't say there are evil babysitters in town, but it's a common worry, especially for first time parents of very young children and babies
I see this as an opportunity to make new friends and expand the circle. It can be tough to find new friends, especially as we get older, but I guarantee you there are other DINKS out there looking for you both.
My hobbies are mostly indoors, but we try with his outdoor hobby! A lot of other players use the hobby to escape the kiddos tho 🤣

Early 30’s!
That’s a great idea, I’ll have to look into those kinds of things, too. I could volunteer at the library or we could volunteer helping at the tournaments of his favorite hobby!
